Launch Pad lift off!
When I Am Gone was created as part of the Oculus Launch Pad '21 Cohort. Four months ago, I showed up to "Bootcamp" and was blown away by the speakers, events, sessions, and fellow members. Our task: create a 2-6 minute vertical slice of a VR app inspired by the theme of "Diversity In Thought".
After a few weeks of brainstorming, work began. My first task was to gather a team as I knew that my time was limited (a full time job meant I could only devote time to this project on nights and weekends). Thankfully, two trusted and talented friends answered the call and joined in on the adventure.
I've attached a handful of early sketches I made that we used as inspiration!
Our first working build took shape in December. And on January 31, 2022, we submitted a vertical slice of When I Am Gone to Meta. Now, a collection of judges will evaluate the project. Then, in early April, I'll be showing this as part of the "Demo Day". Looking forward to seeing what everyone else in the cohort created this year!
